The second phase of the largest grid-side single battery energy storage power station in Europe starts

Recently, the second phase of the UK Mendi battery energy storage project, the second phase of the UK Mendi battery energy storage project (hereinafter referred to as "Mendy Phase II"), which is currently the largest grid-side single battery energy storage power station in Europe, was undertaken by China Energy Engineering Guangdong Institute for the whole process design consultation. Construction started officially.

Mendi Phase II is located in the surrounding area of Wiltshire, west of London, UK, next to the Mendi Phase I energy storage station, with a construction scale of 49.9 MW/99.8 MWh, and will use Chinese-made battery energy storage systems. As a demonstration project of cooperation between China and the UK in the field of new energy, Mendi Phase II was listed as one of the 18 projects supporting green and low-carbon development in the UK at the UK Global Investment Summit. The overall operation and management of the energy station, participation in peak regulation, frequency regulation and other auxiliary services of the British power grid, improve the flexibility and safety of the British power grid, and provide important support for the stable operation of the West London power grid.

The installed capacity of Mendi Phase I energy storage station is 99.8 MW. It is currently the largest grid-side single battery energy storage station in Europe. It is also the first 100 MW large-scale battery energy storage project built by a Chinese power company in a developed country. It will be put into commercial operation on June 30, 2021.

Previously, China Energy Engineering Guangdong Research Institute completed the feasibility study and design consultation of Mendi Phase I energy storage station, and won the approval of the owner unit with its professional technology and high-quality service level. At present, the project team of Guangdong Institute has completed the feasibility study and preliminary design of Mendi Phase II project, and assisted in the preparation of construction bidding documents. Next, on the basis of the preliminary project, the Guangdong Institute will fully consider the British local standards, interface and collaboration with the first phase, application scenarios, etc., and make every effort to carry out the design and consultation work of the whole process of the project, and promote more Chinese intelligent manufacturing to go abroad.
