Michigan plans to deploy 1GW of energy storage by 2025

Officially launched on April 21, the Michigan Healthy Climate Plan aims to steer the state toward carbon neutrality by 2050 and work toward its mid-2030 goal. Improving air and water quality is also a focus of the plan.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said during a tour of a large solar farm that will help create new high-paying jobs in the state while respecting Michigan's natural landscape and the guardianship of indigenous tribes.

He said, "Michigan is affected by climate change, from polar vortexes and major floods to dam bursts and week-long power outages. The Michigan Healthy Climate Plan identifies actions we need to take to aggressively address climate change, reduce The cost of electricity for Michiganders, ensuring they have a high-paying, sustainable job, and every home has clean air, water, and home electricity.”

These will be implemented until 2025 to achieve the provisional goal of deploying 1GW of energy storage systems. The Healthy Climate Plan was developed in consultation with a range of Michigan citizens and experts in various fields.
